Lisbon (Robin Tunney) will be making major strides in both the professional and romantic realms of her life in upcoming episodes.

Despite the fact that Lisbon is just settling into her new job in Austin, E! reports that the former CBI agent will soon be contemplating another major career move. It is unknown whether or not Lisbon will be looking to leave the FBI, but it seems more likely that she will be considering some sort of promotion within the Bureau considering all the effort that went into reestablishing her partnership with Jane (Simon Baker) in the post-Red John storyline.

While it is probable that Lisbon will want to continue her working relationship with the Mentalist, she will be entering into at least one brief romance before writers will even consider allowing the long-time coworkers to really explore their potential feelings for each other.

"In order for [Lisbon] to fulfill herself - even if she eventually fulfills herself with Jane, which she may or may not do - she has to find other relationships, other perspectives, other people who love her, just to feel fully who she is," explained series creator Bruno Heller, according to Entertainment Weekly. "It's very important for her to be able to step away from Jane and see herself for herself."

Instead, FBI Agent Marcus Pike (Pedro Pascal) will be the one to sweep Lisbon off her feet in "Violets" (episode 16) and TV Line claims he will stick around for at least five episodes.

The Mentalist airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on CBS. Click the video below to see a preview for the series' next episode, "Grey Water."
