The trailer for FX's television adaptation of Fargo featuring Billy Bob Thornton and Martin Freeman, was revealed on March 18.

Billy Bob Thornton Joins the Cast of Entourage, the Movie?

The show, which cuts very close to the treatment of the Coen brothers' 1996 film, plays out like a gritty tale in a dreary town, with a generous varnish of black humor. It seems like the storyline will take a bit of a detour from the original, starring Francis McDormand, William H. Macy and Steve Buscemi.

Martin Freeman takes on the part of Lester Nygaard, who is an insurance salesman, a bullied type who gets some unsavory advice from Lorne Malvo, played by Thronton. Malvo is the manipulative new guy in town looking to stir up some trouble. He sets Freeman's character on a path of destruction.

It seems like a harrowed Freeman gets his boss killed. Allison Tomlin wears McDormand's pants and is seen leading the investigation. Breaking Bad's Bob Odenkirk plays Bill Olson, a cop on Tomlin's team. Adam Goldberg plays Mr. Numbers who seems to be a hyper-alert and suave private investigator, with the precision of a professional assassin. Colin Hanks plays Deputy Gun Grimly.

The miniseries will consist of 10-episodes and has been adapted by The Unusuals filmmaker, Noah Hawley and Fargo's filmmakers Joel and Ethan Coen have come on board as executive producers.

"I'm going to be bold and say it will do justice to the Coen brothers' film which is one of my favorite movies of all time," FX president John Landgraf had said at the Television Critics Association press tour in August last year.

The show will air on FX on April 15.
