Johnny Depp Could Offer $156M Payout to Ex Vanessa Paradis: Report
Johnny Depp could pay his ex Vanessa Paradis as much as $156 million in a settlement, according to a report.
The "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor, who announced the amicable split from his partner of 14 years on Tuesday, could offer the large sum to Paradis to avoid litigation which can be very expensive, according to an expert consulted by British tabloid The Sun.
"If the couple had been married, Mr Depp's wife would be able to simply claim 50 per cent, child support payments and alimony," Hollywood lawyer Robert Nachsin told the tabloid. "However, because they are not married this does not apply. The partner [Paradis] would have to file a civil suit and go to court," he explained.
“Litigation is expensive, and could run into extremely high figures. This won’t be a monthly payment plan — he will make a lump sum payment as a settlement.”
The paper reports that Paradis is expected to keep a home they had in Plan-de-la-tour in Southern France.
Depp, 49, and the French singer-actress, 39 have two kids Lily-Rose, 12, and Jack, 9.
According to People Magazine today, Depp and Paradis began leading separate lives more than a year ago and hadn't "stayed under the same roof for some time."
The couple had not appeared together on a red carpet for two years, People says.
