The hopeful performers spent Wednesday night trying to convince the nation that they should be allowed to advance to the next round, and while America still tried to oust Sam Woolf, the series' judges had a different idea.

Woolf wasn't the only one holding his breath on Tuesday night, however. On Monday, each contestant was given a second shot at his or her audition song and, like Woolf's version of Ed Sheeran's Lego House, some performances didn't show much improvement. American Idol returns with "Song from the 1980s" next Monday at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
