'Reign' Spoilers: Scotland's Freedom Depends On Mary's Ability To Produce 'An Heir'? [VIDEO]
It looks like Reign is about to get even more intense, involving a secret marriage contract and Mary's relationship with her mother.
Mary Will Change In A Way That Was 'Never Seen Before?'
On Thursday, TVLine posted an interview with the show's star Adelaide Kane (Mary) who dished on what's about to happen in the next episode. Apparently, Mary will have some issues producing an heir, which will create a damper on everyone.
"There's a lot going on," Kane said. "Mary discovers a secret clause in her marriage contract that her mother conspired to create with Catherine, sort of her personal gain. Basically, the freedom of Scotland hinges on Mary producing an heir, which was a pretty big deal in those days. If you couldn't produce an heir, you were essentially useless. So there's continuing tension between Mary and her mother, even from a distance."
It looks like Mary's mother won't be the only family member causing drama for Mary. Another relative is supposed to make an appearance, leading to something serious with the mom.
"There's also Mary's French uncle, who arrives with more word on the civil unrest, as well as some very upsetting news about Mary's mother," Kane said. "So Mary and Francis will have to decide whether they can support each other as individuals or sell each other out for their countries."
The actress also mentioned that there will be "marital tension" between Mary and Francis due to the interactions with Bash. This will cause drama for Bash and Kenna.
Reign airs on Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
