The fans have spoken, and one of the most prestigious awards given out at the MTV Movie Awards has gone to The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

Catching Fire beat out fellow nominees 12 Years A Slave, American Hustle, The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug, and The Wolf of Wall Street for the Movie of the Year Award at the 2014 MTV Movie Awards April 13 in Los Angeles.

Previous winners of the award include The Avengers, The Twilight Saga Movies, Transformers, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, Wedding Crashers, Napoleon Dynamite, and The Lord of the Rings Trilogy.

12 Years a Slave previously won the Best Picture Oscar back in March, the Best Motion Picture-Drama Award at the January Golden Globes and the Best Film BAFTA award. It also won 2 additional Oscars for Lupita N'Yongo for Best Supporting Actress and Best Adapted Screenplay.

American Hustle was nominated for 10 Oscars, including Best Picture. It previously won the Golden Globe for Best Picture-Comedy or Musical, and Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance By a Cast in a Motion Picture. The film also won two additional Golden Globes for Jennifer Lawrence for Best Supporting Actress and Amy Adams for Best Actress Comedy or Musical.

The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug was nominated for three Oscars, while The Hunger Games: Catching Fire was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Original Song.

The Wolf of Wall Street was nominated for five Oscars, including Best Picture, and won a Golden Globe for Best Actor Musical or Comedy for Leonardo DiCaprio.
