It looks as though Mad Men didn't get off to the start it might have been expecting Sunday night, when AMC premiered the first episode of its final season. Perhaps the hit series will receive better ratings on its next go-round though, when the upcoming episode, A Day's Work, airs.

On Monday, Variety reported that, according to Nielsen, the season-opener of Mad Men experienced a significantly smaller viewership than "its year-ago opener of 3.37 million and also lower than its June season finale of last year (2.69 million)." However, even the Don Draper actor, Jon Hamm, is looking on the bright side for the show, and wants his character to just have "peace."

Moreover, A Day's Work will debut on April 20, with much higher expectations. "In fact, we believe "Mad Men" will pick up speed - and viewers - with the debut of episode 2," shared a source Monday. According to an official description of the episode, "Peggy will receive a bouquet of flowers at the office while Joan will be put in an impossibly awkward situation."

Beginning of the End For Don Draper In 'Mad Men' Final Premiere Episode?

Plus, the synopsis also hinted that fans will see actor Vincent Kartheiser's character, Pete Campbell, "navigate the politics" of new business. Tune in to A Day's Work Sunday, April 20 on AMC at 10 p.m. and check out the coming attractions here:
