On Tuesday, the FX spinoff of the Coen Brothers' 1996 hit movie, Fargo, premiered its first episode, The Crocodile's Dilemma. The Season 1 debut was set in the same state as the movie, but was based on a different murder - one which actually occurred in real life.

In a fashion similar to the movie's, the first scene of Noah Hawley's FX anthology featured the claim, "This is a true story. The event depicted in this film took place in Minnesota in 2006. At the request of the survivors, the names have been changed. Out of respect for the dead, the rest has been told exactly as it occurred."

The IB Times said, "just because the story of Fargo is being told with an altered plot doesn't mean you shouldn't expect the same Coen brother vibe throughout the TV series." In the episode, viewers were acquainted with actor Billy Bob Thornton's character, Lorne Malvo, and Lester Nygaard, who is played by The Hobbit actor, Martin Freeman.

During The Crocodile's Dilemma, the malicious drifter named Malvo is seen driving around with a partially undressed man in his trunk, meanwhile Nygaard is berated by his wife while having breakfast. "We think it's safe to say Lester's wife probably won't make it to the end of the season after her salesman diss," said the report.
