If The Mentalist does come to a sudden end, series creator Bruno Heller has taken steps to ensure that there will be no lose ends to Patrick Jane's (Baker) story.

"It will be a very pleasing and satisfying series finale if that's what happens and if not its a very pleasing and satisfying precursor to a new season," Bruno told Entertainment Weekly in reference to the upcoming season 6 finale. "Obviously that's the goal. Killing off Red John ... turned out to be a brilliant idea and it loosened everybody up and gave us fresh legs and blue skies."

Titled "Blue Bird Inn," the season finale will air on May 18.
