‘Masterchef’ Season 5 Spoilers: 'Star Wars' Twist To Be Introduced In Cooking Competition Series With New Tagline? [VIDEO]
Fox's hit chef competition series Masterchef is slated for a Memorial Day return and could feature an interesting twist involving a famous movie franchise.
'Masterchef Junior' Slated For Second Season Return
In exclusive art featured in The Hollywood Reporter, the FOX series shows judges and famous chefs Gordon Ramsay, Graham Elliot and Joe Bastianich proudly holding up twisted forks alongside a tagline of "May the forks be with you," a clever play on the famous line from the Star Wars movie franchise, "May the force be with you."
If the tagline for the season is a hint of the first challenge the chefs will face, it could mean an exciting beginning to the newest installment of the competition.
Confirmed challenges for the new season include putting the contestants into teams that will prepare a meal for more than 500 service men and women on an army base, creating a three-course meal for a summer wedding, visiting a diner and making classic American dishes, cooking a romantic meal for 14 couples, serving game-day favorites for football fans and taking over a well-known Hollywood restaurant.
The series features 30 home cooks auditioning for a chance to don the Masterchef apron in Los Angeles. The top ones chosen to continue in the competition are eliminated on a weekly basis, with a final winner being declared who wins not only the title of Masterchef champion, but a $250,000 grand prize and cookbook deal. They will be judged by Michelin-Starred chefs Ramsay and Elliot and Bastianich, a partner in the business of Bastianich family restaurants including the popular Felidia and Becco restaurants in New York City.
Past winners Whitney Miller, Jennifer Behm, Christine Ha and Luca Manfe have all found success since winning the competition. Miller released a cookbook titled Modern Hospitality: Simple Recipes with Southern Charm in 2011, while Ha released her own book, Recipes from my Home Kitchen: Asian and American Comfort Food in 2013. Manfe, the only male winner on the show thus far, is slated to release his book, My Italian Kitchen, next month. Behm has yet to release a book, but runs a successful Delaware based catering company.
Masterchef season 5 premieres Monday, May 26 at 8 p.m. on FOX.
