‘Faking It’ Season 1 Spoilers: Secrets And Sacrifices To Take A Toll On Amy & Karma’s Real Friendship? [VIDEO]
MTV's newest scripted series Faking It will amp up the angst and drama facing the fake lesbian couple and all their new high school friends as the premiere season continues.
'Faking It' Helping Those Who Are Struggling To Come Out?
According to a TV Line report, the sacrifices Amy (Rita Volk) will make for Karma (Katie Sevens) will take a major toll on the friendship the girls actually share.
"At the end of the day, Amy just wants her friend to fit in and get all the normal things that high-school girls want," Volk said on April 23. "But in the process, Amy sacrifices a lot of who she is and what she wants. She's lying to everyone, including herself."
In the show's premiere episode, which aired April 22, Amy and Karma were desperate to fit in at their high school, and when they're mistaken for a lesbian couple, they jump at the opportunity to catapult their popularity. While trying to prove their relationship when they're called out for lying, the girls kissed-and Amy realized she may not be faking it so much after all.
Because of Amy's confusion, she will enlist the help of out-and-proud Shane (Michael Willett), who executive producer Carter Covington said would help her figure out where her feelings really lie.
"Shane is going to take Amy on a little journey to figure out whether she likes boys or girls," Covington said. "[He'll] be what we call her lesbian Sherpa to help her figure this all out."
Meanwhile, Karma's carrying on in secret with Liam (Gregg Sulkin) will potentially hit some additional snags after some of the secrets he hides start to actually expose themselves.
"You'll definitely learn that he has a few secrets throughout the season," Sulkin said. "He's a likable guy, but his family situation isn't ideal. Towards the end of the season-and if we, hopefully, get picked up for a second season-you'll see more of Liam's background. It's been fun playing a character that's not so one-dimensional."
Faking It airs Tuesdays at 10:30 p.m. on MTV.
