The decision about the filming location for House of Cards third season was in a state of limbo because the producers weren't getting permission for the continuing to shoot in Maryland as it had done in the past seasons.

Netflix Show Ready To Film Despite Release Date Being In Jeopardy?

But now it seems things have finally been sorted out. Initially the producers (Media Rights Capital) of the Netflix series were facing some trouble with striking a deal with the State government. On April 25 the Governor of Maryland Martin O'Malley stated that the Netflix series has finally been granted permission to film in the state.

With the news just out, the Baltimore Sun cornered Kevin Spacey, who plays the protagnist frank Underwood in the show, at an event where he was promoting his documentary NOW: In the Wings on a World Stage. When the actor was asked about responding to the news about the show returning to Maryland, Spacey played it very careful.

"It's probably best I don't add to the conversation, because whatever I say -- it's just going to get picked up as a headline," Spacey said. "So, I'm going to bow out and simply say I have every intention of starting shooting when we're supposed to be starting shooting in the state of Maryland."

In a statement O'Malley revealed that the show would conrtibute to the economic health of the State:

"We're going to keep the 3700 jobs and more than 100 million dollars of economic activity and investment that House Of Cards generates right here in Maryland," O'Malley said. "Media Rights Capital has been a great supporter of the people and entertainment community in Maryland and we couldn't be happier to continue our partnership."
