As of now, the cast for Episode VII includes Adam Driver (TV's Girls), Domhnall Gleeson (About Time), Daisy Ridley (Silent Witness), Max Von Sydow (Minority Report), Andy Serkis (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), John Boyega (Attack the Block) and Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis).

Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher are also expected to reprise their roles as Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia.

Benedict Cumberbatch Addresses Reports On Getting A Star Wars Role?

According to a report from Variety, the filmmakers were allegedly looking for actors who were not of Caucasian ethnicity, which leaves speculation on Boyega taking on the lead role. And since Ridley is the only woman who's been cast so far besides Fisher so there is a high chance that she could play the leading female role.

There was also a clip from IGN that mentioned that Han Solo could have a "gigantic role" in the film, which sparks up some curiosity on Ford having more than just a cameo appearance in the movie.

"We are so excited to finally share the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII," director J.J. Abrams said, according to StarWars.com. "It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again. We start shooting in a couple weeks, and everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud."

Star Wars: Episode VII is expected to hit theaters on December 18, 2015.
