'Hannibal' Season 2: Will The Cannibalistic Drama Be Renewed? Bryan Fuller Hints At 'Prestige Project' Future [VIDEO]
Hannibal is nearing the end of season 2, meaning fans and execs alike are starting to sweat out the renewal process.
Created by Brian Fuller, Hannibal brought its famously twisted title character to the small screen last summer, and the nightmare-inducing drama has garnered high praise - if not ratings - ever since. However, acutely artistic cinematography and stellar acting may not be enough to help the series snag a third season on NBC.
"The ratings are not anything to jump up and down about, but the critical acclaim is great, and we're sort of a prestige project for the network, so we're hoping that's enough, like it was last year," Fuller informed Digital Spy."There have been indications that it will be."
Even if NBC fails to extend Hannibal for another year, Fuller believes the series will find a way to continue on. For those who anxiously waited for a season 2 announcement in 2013, Fuller's speech about moving to another Network or working with a streaming company probably sound like a comforting broken record.
However, if the entire Hannibal production does land in the circular filing cabinet, Fuller worries that fans will be left unfulfilled.
"We end season two in such a strange way - boy, I would be pissed [if that were the end]!" Fuller explained to Digital Spy. "We don't quite land the plane, we leave the plane in the air."
