Details regarding the plot and production of Insidious 3 are slowly surfacing, and the most recent updates suggest that the film will be very different this time and not be based on the Lambert family.

Third Film to Be 'A Lot More Like Part One Than Two;' Director For Film Revealed?

Leigh Whanell, who wrote the first two films, has been giving away a few details but very cautiously. The script for the film is completed. In a recent interview with Screenrant Whanell said that the film is not based around the Lambert family anymore.

"[Producer] Jason Blum will probably kill me if I say anything," he said. "But I can say that it's not based around the Lambert family anymore, it's not Rose Byrne's character -- which I actually really liked, going back and just wiping the slate clean and starting over again. It felt like writing the first film, 'cause you weren't bound to any particular character. ... It felt really good."

Insidious 3 Release Date 2015 Revealed

It was also revealed that Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne will not be reprising their roles from the last two films.

James Wan who collaborated with Whanell on the last two films, will also not be directing this film. Wan recently revealed that they had found a new director for the film.
