The Troubles, time travel, implanted memories, other dimensions - so much of this seems beyond the aid of a scientific band-aid, but TV Line claims one season 5 character will think that the cure may be hidden in a beaker and a microscope.

The Syfy series is currently casting for a doctor with a military resume who believes that the very abnormal and puzzling mysteries of Haven can be flushed out with the logical application of science.

However, it is unknown if this man/woman will stick around for more than one episode. It is possible that the character is just curious outsider who stops by for a quick interaction with the Trouble of the week, a la the Darkside Seekers, but there is always a chance that the good doctor could actually be on to something and take up residence in the quirky town.

Haven, which will air its 26-episode fifth season in two parts, is currently filming episode 3. Penned by Speed Weed ("When the Bough Breaks," "Crush") and Shernold Edwards ("When the Bough Breaks," "William"), the episode's title is currently unknown.

Haven will return to Syfy later this year. Click the video below to catch up on the events of season 4.
