Ant-Man is coming, and his redemption arc will make you cheer.

'Ant-Man' Movie Casts Patrick Wilson, What Role Will He Play In The Marvel Film?

Edgar Wright's long-gestating Ant-Man production has found a place in Marvel's Phase 3, and Paul Rudd has been cast as the eponymous hero. However, Rudd's origin story won't be the typical Hank Pym-style tale fans are used to.

Instead the tale will pick up with the second iteration of the tiny hero, Scott Lang, and the protagonist will find his way onto the Hank Pym's world via his penchant for thievery. While his criminal escapes will almost certainly have a downside, they won't take away from his charming nature.

'Avengers 2' Has 'Very Big' Role For Black Widow, Solo Film To Follow?

"Look at that origin of the petty crook who comes into contact with a suit and does his best to make good, and then look at someone like Paul Rudd, who can do slightly unsavory things like break into people's houses and still be charming and who you root for and whose redemption you will find satisfaction in," explained Marvel Studios president of production, Kevin Feige, according to Empire (via The Mary Sue).

Although Ant-Man has sat on the back burner for some time now, Feige assures viewers that the film will be up to date with the current happenings in the marvel Cinematic Universe.

"We changed, frankly some of the MCU to accommodate this version of Ant-Man," Feige explained. "Knowing what we wanted to do with Edgar [Wright] and with Ant-Man, going years and years back, helped to dictate what we did with the roster for Avengers the first time. It was a bit of both in terms of his idea for the Ant-Man story influencing the birth of the MCU in the early films leading up to Avengers."
