'America's Next Top Model' Season 21 Spoilers: Series Gets Extra Controversial When Contestant With Skin Condition Joins The Cast? [VIDEO]
America's Next Top Model is about to get extra wild when a contestant joins the series with a physical condition that could make her overlooked on the series, or turn her into a massive sensation.
On Wednesday, She Knows announced that a contestant named Cantelle Brown-Young will join the series, and she plans to show the world what true beauty is despite what society deems as unattractive.
Brown-Young has a skin pigmentation problem called vitilego, which causes lighter marks on the skin typically to someone who is naturally dark. The site mentioned that the 19-year-old was bullied when she was younger, and people would call her "zebra" and "cow" due to the light spots on her face.
Contestant Dating Gay Actress?
The model, who also goes by "Winnie Harlow," has an Instagram page that shows her face as well as her modeling techniques. Brown-Young's lighter patches appear on other parts of her body as well based on her Instagram images. And according to her audition video, she plans to prove that people can follow their dreams.
"The people thinking they can't do what they want to do because of the little flaws, you can definitely do it and I'm here to prove it," she said. "I have something very profound about the way I look. A lot of people have a story or a background, but mind is painted on my body."
America's Next Top Model Season 21 is expected to premiere this fall on The CW.
