Justin Bieber To Star In Baywatch Remake?
Paramount Pictures confirmed they are working on a screen adaptation of a remake of the hit nineties television show "Baywatch" last month.
Now, one of the show's original stars wants to see singing pop sensation Justin Bieber reprise his role from the show on the big screen.
Former "Baywatch" star Jeremy Jackson, who played "Hobie Buchannon", the son of the show's lead character, played by David Hasselhoff, told TMZ that he'd love to see his former role played by the "Boyfriend" singer.
Jackson told TMZ that he would train Bieber, 18, for free on the art of being a lifeguard in exchange for the chance to drive the teen's Batmobile Cadillac one weekend.
The Californian native shot to fame playing "Hobie" for nine years for the hit television series starting when he was just 11-years-old. The now 31-year-old claims he left when he was suffering from a drug addiction, according to Dailymail.
Jackson has appeared on the fifth season of "Celebrity Rehab" with Dr. Drew, and was being treated for steroid addiction.
ContactMusic reports that Paramount Pictures producers want Justin Timberlake to star in the 'Baywatch" movie as well. The role of a disgraced former Olympic swimmer who tries out for a spot on the Baywatch lifeguard team is what the movie studio company has in mind for him.
The TV drama series follows the lives of a group of fictional Los Angeles County Lifeguards - who were played by Hasselhoff, Pamela Anderson (C.J. Parker) and Carmen Electra (Lani McKenzie) - who patrol beaches in Los Angeles County, California.
The writers have already stated that the script will include roles for David and Pamela should they want to appear in the motion picture.
'Baywatch' originally ran on US TV network NBC from 1989 to 1990 and it was syndicated thereafter from 1991 to 2001, changing its name to 'Baywatch: Hawaii' from 1999-2001 after a large cast overhaul.
Bieber has experience in front of the camera appearing in music videos for songs he has released and his "Never Say Never" documentary. He has acted in a television role, portraying troubled character Jason McCann in several CSI episodes.
Bieber, 18 will perform at the 2012 Teen Choice Awards, set for Sunday, July 22.
