'Agents Of SHIELD' Season 2: 'There Will Be Consequences' To FitzSimmon Relationship, Possible Non-Reciprocation? [VIDEO]
The Agents of SHIELD have proved they can handle HYDRA, but Fitz and Simmons' newly exposed feelings may prove to be far more trying.
Thrown together during their days at the Academy, Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) and Gemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) have developed into an almost psychically linked, scientific whirlwind of a tag team, but their relationship has always remained a platonic one.
At least it used to, but that was before the consummate engineer confessed his feelings and nearly sacrificed his life to save a certain bio-chem genius (see video below).

Now that the cat is out of the bag, will FitzSimmons become a legitimate ship or will Simmons find away to evade Fitz romantic feelings? Considering Simmons' response to Fitz's confession was to kiss his face everywhere except the lips, it looks like writers may be leaning towards the latter option.
"Clearly, any time one person says something and a person doesn't reciprocate, it changes things," said executive producer Jeffrey Bell, according to TV Guide. "It's safe to say there will be consequences."
It is also safe to say that there is no lack of caring between the two scientists. The friends have went through extraordinary lengths to keep each other safe - jumping out of airplanes, intercepting (non-lethal) grenades, infiltrating a HYDRA controlled Hub, dragging one another from the ocean - and hopefully that bond can weather what ever season 2 has in store.
Agents of SHIELD will return to ABC this fall.
