Hold on to your sonic screwdrivers, Doctor Who will be returning this August.

Matt Smith To Return In 'Doctor Who' Season 8 Premiere? Find Out The Surprising Way The Eleventh Doctor Is Involved

On Friday, the BBC and BBC America released a teaser for their newest doctor, and Peter Capaldi is certainly making the Time Lord look imposing.

Silhouetted against the sparking TARDIS control room, Capaldi's Twelve looks ready to frighten off any monster that comes his way.

So basically, run.

"Our vague idea is... the last two Doctors have been brilliant, and have been your 'good boyfriend' Doctors," explained showrunner Steven Moffat, according to Doctor Who Magazine (via CultBox). "But the Doctor isn't always like that. There is the sort of Tom Baker, Christopher Eccelston end of the spectrum, where he is mad and dangerous and difficult."

The eighth season is expected to kick off with equal doses of new and familiar. While viewers adjust to Twelve and Capaldi, writers have brought in the Paternoster Gang to make the change a little less shocking. Madame Vastra (Neve McIntosh), Jenny Flint (Catrin Stewart), Strax (Dan Starkey) will be appearing in the Victorian era premiere.

"This time I've made sure we've got a bunch of characters around him so that we can have a new Doctor introduced and we can push that Doctor a bit further if you've got a familiar world around him," Moffat said, according to Doctor Who TV.

Check out the teaser below and tune into BBC and BBC America this August to see Twelve take on his first adventure.
