It looks like The Walking Dead might continue to evolve with an entirely new story, leaving anticipation on which characters will stay and which will not.

Rick Grimes Will Be 'Completely Different?'

On Tuesday, Movie Pilot reported that executive producer Scott M. Gimple revealed where the future of the show will go from here. There's a chance that things will change in a drastic way.

"It's knowing thematically where you're going, knowing what you want to achieve, but almost accounting for expansion from that -- having an end in mind that's flexible," Gimple said. "And even, I would say, our show could keep going as a story, but it would be a new story."

Season 5 Premiere Will Be 'Fantastic?'

The producer then dished on the current characters and the chances of different people coming along at some point.

"The characters that we have, we would tell all of their stories but use the environment to tell new characters' stories," Gimple said. "But that's wishful thinking that things would go on and on and on and on."

Walking Dead co-creator Robert Kirkman recently told Entertainment Weekly that the show is up to different challenges, which he seems to be looking forward to.

"We're doing new and different and crazy and exciting things and now I think the atmosphere is that we can't wait until we can start sharing things to people because we're really excited about what we're doing here," he said. "We think we're making another magical season."

The Walking Dead Season 5 is expected to premiere in October on AMC.
