Tom Cruise Turns 50 Amid Divorce from Katie Holmes
Tom Cruise turned 50 on Tuesday, just days after his actress wife, Katie Holmes, filed for divorce.
The A-list actor is currently in Iceland shooting his latest blockbuster, "Oblivion" and will be spending his milestone birthday without his wife of five years.
It seems Cruise has no special plans for his birthday, understandably so with the impending divorce.
And as his birthday rolls on, more reports about the end of the couple's troubled relationship are being released.
Holmes was yesterday spotted in New York City for the first time since the announcement, without her wedding ring.
Holmes filed for divorce in New York citing “irreconcilable differences” and is seeking sole custody of their 6-year-old daughter, Suri. Various media outlets speculate that Scientology, specifically Cruise’s plans for Suri’s introduction to the religion, played a prominent role in her decision.
Cruise has already wrapped yet another new project, the crime saga "Jack Reacher." In the film, the actor will portray an ex-military policeman who becomes a vigilante drifter — and battles a sniper who randomly targets civilians. He’s also working on the sci-fi thriller "Oblivion," about a veteran soldier who’s sent to a distant planet and told to destroy the remains of an alien race.
