Revenge threw the father of all curve balls during the season 3 finale, and the murderous denizens of the Hamptons will have to reevaluate their motives now that David Clarke is back in town.

Her father's unjust arrest and subsequent prison riot death was the catalyst for Emily/Amanda's (Emily VanCamp) Long Island vendetta, but his sudden reappearance will throw her search for revenge off kilter.

Unfortunately for Emily and Victoria Grayson (Madeleine Stowe), this David (James Tupper) isn't the man they lost or framed so many years ago. Mr. Clarke proved this quite handily when he made murdering Conrad Grayson (Henry Czerny) the number one item on his Hamptons to-do list.

"He is, of anybody that can come walking into the Hamptons, he is the game changer and we felt the best way to bring him back to the Hamptons is when we reintroduce him, you realize this man is no longer about forgiveness, that revenge has become a part of his makeup," explained executive producer Sunil Nayar, according to E!.

If the conspiracy surrounding his arrest wasn't tangled enough, David's return will open up an entirely new can of worms.

"[It seems] that the man that both Emily and Victoria think they knew isn't the guy at all," Nayar continued. "Whether people love it or hate it, I'm sure it's going to be a polarizing decision, there's nobody who's not going to want to know where he's been and what he's about, so we can't wait to tell those stories next season."

So what has David been up to all these years? Fans can mull over that question until Revenge returns to ABC this fall.
