While the original rookies are five years in the game, a newcomer is added to the mix to shake things up in the upcoming fifth season of Rookie Blue.

Chloe's Mystery Husband Arrives

Duncan AKA "selfie" is certainly making a name for himself as he joins the forces. And apparently he's a know-it-all. Co-executive producer and writer Sherry White said in a behind-the-scenes video, "We started off season one saying 'no amount of training can prepare you for life on the street.' But what happens if someone comes in and what if they think they know what they're doing?"

Andy is his trainer and while he's very excited to be on the job, he is a little over the top, which causes him and Andy to have a few issues.

Matthew Owen Murray, who plays Duncan, said, "He loves being a police officer but he has a little problem."

For starters, when the two first met he immediately thought she was hitting on him. But his zeal goes a little too far when they are caught up in a situation where Andy is screaming at Duncan to put his weapon down. He refuses to until a man holding his own weapon puts it down.

This is all new for Andy who feels likes he's a rookie all over again, which is exactly what showrunners were going after.

White added, "We wanted to make Andy's job really difficult. And challenge her as much as we could."

But Andy can't help but to love him; even after he throws up while giving someone his very first death notification. The two definitely have a bond this season.

At one point Andy tells him, "If you don't lean on me you're gonna fail. Do you understand that?"

Be sure to watch the Rookie Blue premiere on ABC June 19 at 10/9c.
