As season 5 of The Good Wife just wrapped on May 18, showrunners, Robert and Michelle King, spoke about Finn Polmar's (Matthew Goode) next season in a recent interview.

While the finale of the CBS legal drama focussed on many things, Finn lurked in the background, only making a brief appearance as he dropped out from the race for State Attorney. Robert and Michelle had previously suggested that Finn was, in some way, meant to fill the void Will's (Josh Charles) exit left. There were also allusions to Alicia (Julianna Margulies) being romantically linked with Finn. In a recent E!Online interview, when asked if he was to stick around and what kind of role would he play, Robert said he would bring a very different energy to the show, than Will did:

"We love what he's doing. What's nice is he's a very different color to have on the show. It's almost like a feature-like pacing in his acting," he said. "You're very aware of it. You're aware of these off-beat pauses that he brings to it. It's very theatrical and very not Josh Charles, which is good too, so it doesn't feel like we're copying things."

Cary Will 'Push Things In An Odd Direction' With Kalinda As Their Relationship Is Tested?

One of the important storylines that was teased out and will be be picked up in the next season related to Diane (Christine Baranski) and Alicia's career. Diane was being asked to run for State's Attorney amidst all the chaos and office politics at Lockhart/Gardner where the partners have been contriving to kick her out of the firm and take over after Will's (Josh Charles) death. Towards the end of the episode, with Kalinda (Archie Panjabi) by her side, Diane decided to make a big move, and asked Florrick/Agos if she could join them.

This led to the conclusion of the episode where Eli Gould (Alan Cumming) is seen proposing that Alicia become a candidate for State's Attorney. The cliffhanger obviously had to do with the big decision Alicia will have to take now.

The finale, titled A Weird Year, aired on May 18.
