Emily Thorne is slowly knocking off her enemies, but the vengeful young lady has yet to put the Queen of the Hampton's six feet under.

Writers Return To Work For 'Revenge' Season 4, David Clarke Story & Twists Teased

Despite Emily/Amanda's (Emily VanCamp) unwavering hatred for the Graysons, David Clarke's (James Tupper) daughter has not made an ultimate move to end their lives. Instead, it appears as if Emily would much rather see them suffer over the long term - although she no longer has this option with Conrad (Henry Czerny) that's to the handiwork of dear old Dad.

"That's sort of what Emily's always been about, the death by 1,000 cuts; human suffering is a much greater revenge than just the emptiness of death," explained executive producer Sunil Nayar, according to TV Line. "Especially after what Victoria did, Emily wants this woman to live, but live miserably, as opposed to dying."

How Will Emily Thorne & Victoria Grayson React To David Clarke's Return On 'Revenge'? Is He The Man They Remember?

Emily rounded out season 3 by dealing Victoria (Madeleine Stowe) two devastating blows by discrediting her nemesis's sanity and killing off her true love. As the series moves into season 4, Victoria will be limited in the justification for her own revenge now that she knows Emily's true identity (see video below).

"As we go into Season 4, Victoria will not only feel a sense of anger and revenge in regards to what happened to Pascal, but she essentially created this young woman, so there's also a comeuppance," Nayar told TV Line. "Everyone has to look at the world around them - Emily, Victoria, Daniel - and they all have to think, 'Well, we're complicit in the things that make us unhappy,' and that's something we want to look at in Season 4."

Fans can continue to watch the pair play out their vicious vendettas when Revenge returns to ABC this fall.
