Those viewers who believed there were homoerotic undertones to the Hannibal season 2 finale were not entirely wrong.

Why Did Belelia Du Maurier Fly Off With Hannibal? Bryan Fuller Explains Finale Departure

Dr. Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) and Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) have a highly emotional connection and, to some viewers, it almost looked like the cannibal and the FBI profiler were about to take their love/hatred of each other to an entirely different level during the climactic moments of "Mizumono."

If you picked up on this seeming connection, series creator Bryan Fuller would like you to know that you aren't just imagining it.

"The homoeroticism was absolutely intentional," Fuller recently informed TV Line. "If you could've heard me cackling in the editing room, you would take it with the naughty wink with which it was intended for a certain portion of the audience."

However, there is no way the pair would ever act on these undertones.

"Will Graham's heterosexual," Fuller continued. "Hannibal Lecter, though, is the devil, so I think he's turned on by anything that's alive, and he can find a sensuality and a sexuality in all manner of things - because he has an awareness and a view of the world that is truly unique. So, no, I wouldn't put it past him."

Viewers can catch up with Will Graham and the good doctor when the series returns to NBC in 2015.
