Katie Holmes Tom Cruise Divorce: Katie's New New York Apartment Exclusive Photos (VIDEO)
Katie Holmes has leased a new two-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath apartment in the Chelsea Mercantile in New York City's Chelsea neighborhood according to several reports.
Entertainment website E! Online scored an exclusive video tour of the apartment.
"The Chelsea Mercantile has a limestone façade and was built in 1907", reported The Hollywood Reporter. "Most of the apartments boast jumbo-sized pictures windows, 11-foot high ceilings, walk-in closets in the master bedroom, hardwood floors, and state of the art appliances. A 2,386-square-foot three-bedroom, three-bathroom condo is listed for $3.35 million, while a 2,206-square-foot condo is listed for $3.55 million and has two bedrooms and three bathrooms. The least expensive listing in that building is for a 1,351-square-foot two-bedroom and two-bathroom apartment for $2.795 million. The most jaw-dropping unit available is a Greek Revival-inspired four-bedroom, five-bathroom that's listed at $22.5 million and went on the market in February. Owned by interiors and fabric designer Christopher Hyland, it also includes a breakfast room, gym, library with battlement bookcases, a kitchen in hand-carved oak and double drawing rooms flanked by Doric columns."
The building is near the West Chelsea Galleries, Chelsea Market, Chelsea Piers and the High Line Park.
Real estate broker Ryan Serhant of Netseeker told the RealDeal exclusively: "We went from showing once or twice a week to five showings today, four on Thursday and seven on Friday so far. We may even have an open house this weekend, just to handle the traffic."
Serhant is listing another apartment at the building with his colleague Regis Roumila for $22.5 million.
Holmes isn't the first celebrity to live in the 21-floor, 354-unit building according to several reports. In 2010, N'Sync singer Lance Bass purchased a 1,300-square-foot condo for $1.495 million. Fashion designer Marc Jacobs rented a three-bedroom apartment there in 2009 for $15,000 a month that is owned by professional hockey player Scott Gomez. That same apartment was then rented by The Jonas Brothers' singer Nick Jonas for $20,000 a month earlier this year while he starred in the hit Broadway play "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying". Gomez bought the apartment in 2007 for $3.2 million.
Holmes reportedly signed the lease to the Chelsea Mercantile just a few days before she filed for divorce. Holmes and Tom Cruise owned an apartment in Greenwich Village previously that they purchased; an 8,113 square-foot apartment back in 2009 for $15 million
