Elizabeth Whitson is making a name for herself on MTV's Awkward playing Eva, the girl everyone loves to hate. Cast as a relatively unknown for Awkward's fourth season, the actress comes across as far more soft-spoken than her calculating character.

Jenna Torn Between Luke and Matty on MTV's Awkward?

The preview for the MTV comedy's next episode, entitled My Personal Statement, shows a make-out session, and possibly more, between Eva (Elizabeth Whitson) and Matty (Beau Mirchoff) in Jenna's (Ashley Rickards) bed. This, of course, is following growing tension between Jenna and her ex-boyfriend's new girlfriend, but is Eva everything that she seems?

In a recent interview with After Buzz TV (featured below), Whitson discussed what it was like to come into a popular program mid-series as an antagonist and the backlash she has received in her personal life. "People don't understand that I'm Elizabeth Whitson," she explained, laughing, "It's [Eva], not me."

Are Awkward's Tamara and Jake Getting Back Together?

Whitson also added that Eva is "an actress in her day to day life" and that she believes "there's gonna be a turning point for fans where you find out... understand why she [Eva] does what she does and says what she does."

In terms of her continuation on the show, Whitson kept pretty quiet. "I guess you get to wait and see" she explained with an air of good-natured mystery. Will her secrets breed sympathy amongst her peers, or will the things Eva is hiding lead to her removal from the show?
