'The Mentalist' Season 7: Joe Adler Promoted to Series Regular, What Will Wylie Get Up To Next? [VIDEO]
The Mentalist has bumped Joe Adler up to a series regular, ensuring fans will get a healthy dose of Jason Wylie during season 7.
Wylie, also known as the Coyote (even though he doesn't understand why), joined the CBS series when Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) and Teresa Lisbon (Robin Tunney) made the jump form the CBI to the FBI during season 6. Used to fill the technological void left by Rigsby (Owain Yeoman) and Van Pelt (Amanda Righetti), Wylie has become the FBI's resident computer expert.
Despite being a post-Red John addition, Wylie did not jump into the series at the same time as Agent Dennis Abbott (Rockmond Dunbar) and Kim Fischer (Emily Swallow). Instead, the sandy-haired analyst made his first appearance in "Green Thumb." Determined to locate Jane after his New York City disappearing act, Wylie earned a spot on Abbott's team by spending his lunch hour scanning satellite footage for the faux psychic (see video below).

Easy going and eager to help out the team on any number of Jane's wacky plans, Wylie appeared in almost every post- Red John episode in season 6 and his status as a series regular should grant him a larger role in season 7, according to Deadline. Adler took to Twitter on Tuesday to inform his followers of his promotion.
"An official announcement I suppose - very excited!!" Adler captioned a photo of the news.
