After serving as an executive producer since the show's inception in 2000, Mendelsohn has announced that she will relinquish her current duties to fellow co-showrunner Don McGill before CSI returns this fall.

"It's been a long and amazing journey and I am so proud of CSI's continued success," Mendelsohn said, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "In handing over the helm to my dear friend and partner, Don McGill, I know he and our CSI team will carry on brilliantly what we've all created together. CSI, its cast and crew, writers and directors, will always be my family. I have learned so much from each and every one of them. About writing, producing and life. For that, and so much more, I am forever grateful."

Despite her departure from CSI's Las Vegas branch, Mendelsohn will still be involved with the multi-series franchise. Previously an executive producer for CSI: New York and CSI: Miami, Mendelsohn is slatted to bring her expertise to CBS' fledgling CSI: Cyber.

Mendelsohn's decision makes her one of the last few original CSI members to leave the series. The EP's departure comes in the wake of Paul Guilfoyle's (Captain Brass) season 14 finale send-off (see video below).
