The AMC ad-agency drama Mad Men is nearing the end of the seventh and final season, but not everyone is ready for it.

While many fans are sad to see the critically acclaimed drama come to a close, actor and Boston-native John Slattery (Flags of Our Fathers, The Adjustment Bureau), who plays Roger Sterling on the show, has admitted that it has become a big part of his life. He's been with the show since the beginning, originally auditioning for the role of Don Draper, which ultimately went to Jon Hamm (Friends With Kids, The Town), before being cast as Roger.

More Fantasy Sequences To Come For Mad Men's Final Season?

Slattery was impression initially with the quality of the writing and how it has only seemed to get better and better as the series has progressed. In an interview with Variety on June 10, he explained that the program has been a big part of his life, both professionally and personally. "My son was six [when it began]," he noted, "And he'll be sixteen when it finishes."

When it comes to actually saying goodbye to the series, Slattery admitted that it would be difficult let it go. "I don't know if I'm ready," he explained adding that the finality of it all has made "everything seems a little more vivid."

The mid-season finale for Mad Men aired back in May on AMC. The series will start up again with the final episodes in early 2015.
