Katie Holmes Tom Cruise Divorce Settlement; Katie Shoots Next Movie Next Week
Katie Holmes is set to work on her next film as a writer and producer next week. The storyline is based on the life of a single mother raising her daughter, according to People.com.
The film, titled "Molly", will be shot on location in New York City, where Katie reportedly purchased a new apartment last week. Thirty-three-year-old Holmes will film there until late August.
This is not Holmes' first film producer credit; the mother of Suri, 6, has produced before, according to Yahoo! Movies. She was an executive producer of "The Romantics" (2010) in which she starred along with Anna Paquin and Josh Duhamel. The film grossed $103,000. "Molly" is the first project that Holmes will serve as a writer.
Holmes is also planning her first fashion show at New York's Fashion Week in the fall for her clothing line, Holmes & Yang, People.com also reported.
Katie recently finished working on "The Seagull," and is set to shoot "Responsible Adults" with "Gossip Girl" star Chace Crawford in the fall. The film is a romantic comedy about a guy who discovers that his crush was his babysitter 15 years earlier, Yahoo! Movies also reported.
Holmes recently filed for divorce from actor Tom Cruise after five years of marriage. According to several reports, the couple have reached a divorce settlement over the weekend, 11 days after she filed. The case has been settled and an agreement has been signed.
In a statement announced in Los Angeles Times today, New Jersey divorce lawyer Jonathan Wolfe wrote, "The case has been settled and the agreement has been signed. We are thrilled for Katie and her family and are excited to watch as she embarks on the next chapter of her life."
Holmes and Cruise have also released a joint statement through their representatives regarding the request for privacy around their impending divorce and child custody matters.
The couple had this to say in a joint statement that was published in several reports: "We are committed to working together as parents to accomplish what is in our daughter Suri's best interests. We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other's commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other's roles as parents."
