As of 'Mizumono,' Hannibal's title cannibal is on the lam and four main characters could be gasping their final breaths. Bearing that in mind, what does the gruesome series have planed for season 3?

'Hannibal' Filming To Follow Dr Lecter To Europe? Bryan Fuller Explores Options For Five Week Overseas Shoot

Series Creator Bryan Fuller will not only following Hanni (Mads Mikkelsen) and Dr. Du Maurier (Gillian Anderson) across the Atlantic in the present, but he will also deliver viewers a slice of Dr. Lecter's past.

"Season 3 is going to be a lot of fun because it's going to be taking a lot of disparate elements from the novel Hannibal Rising and the novel Hannibal and mashing them up together as part of the thrust of the season," Fuller informed TV Guide. "It's going to be fun to bastardize two novels into one sort of Frankenstein season. I will brace everybody right now: We're significantly changing the Hannibal origin story from Hannibal Rising."

Did Beverly Katz Discover Abigail Hobbs On 'Hannibal'? Could Hobbs Have Helped Dr. Lecter Kill Katz?

Although Thomas Harris' work has always provided a loose framework for the NBC program, Fuller is not trying to recreate something that already exists. However, fans can expect to see some of the original work's signature characters in 2015 - including Hannibal's own step-aunt, Lady Murasaki.

"My hope is that not only do we have a completely different Hannibal Lecter story in Season 3, but we will meet some of those great characters like Francis Dolarhyde and Lady Murasaki and weave them into the world in a unique way," Fuller explained.
