Hulk's fear of his own alter ego may create a plot for Marvel's oft-debated Hulk-centric venture.

'Avengers 2' Comic-Con: Mark Ruffalo Teases Clip, Which 'Age Of Ultron' Cast Members Will Attend

As the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) preps for his Avengers: Age of Ultron appearance, rumors have once again arisen regarding the possibility of a Hulk solo film. While a feature length focused on giant green rage monster presents a host of problems, Ruffalo believes the Avengers version of Banner and Hulk could manage to hold down a successful plot.

"I do feel like we've gained some ground on this new version of him, which has - he's sort of turning to face himself, and I think the relationship between Banner and The Hulk as a conscious conflict, it could be really interesting," Ruffalo informed Collider. "The one thing that I think The Hulk is terrified of is Banner, and that's never really been mined. And now with this new motion capture technology, we can do something really exciting with Hulk that we've never been able to do performance-wise that I am hoping when we're talking about doing a new version of this, that we're really talking about having a relationship between these two entities that is conscious of each other and in conflict with each other in a really cool, interesting way."

Thanos Is 'Biggest Piece Of Connective Tissue' For Future Marvel Films, Will He Pop Up In 'Age Of Ultron'?

Could this dynamic distract viewers from the fact that Banner is constantly trying to avoid the very thing they came to see - a smash-happy Hulk? Perhaps Joss Whedon's Age of Ultron will serve up some answers regarding the future of the scientist and "the other guy."

The Avengers: Age of Ultron will hit theaters on May 1.
