'Agents Of SHIELD' Season 2: Can Grant Ward Receive Redemption Akin To The Winter Solider? [VIDEO]
Agents of SHIELD's Grant Ward seemingly burned his bridges with Coulson's team when he showed his HYDRA colors, but the turncoat may yet have a chance for redemption.
The likelihood of Coulson (Clark Gregg), Skye (Chloe Bennet), Fitz (Iain De Caestecker), and Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) ever accepting Ward (Brett Dalton) back into the fold is low, but the duplicitous agent could always win over audiences as Agents of SHIELD looks to further explore Ward's dark past and faceoff with new villains.
"The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) has done things that are far more heinous than anything Grant Ward has ever done as far as we know, and yet, at the end of the movie, you're rooting for him to come back on the side of the angels," explained executive producer Jeph Loeb, according to TV Guide. "There's a tradition in the Marvel Universe of our villains turning out to be heroes at the end of the day."

Just as Marvel explored this topic in Captain America: The Winter Solider, the Avengers will deal with a similar plot when they team up with Maximoff siblings arrive during Age of Ultron.
"Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch started out as villains and became Avengers on the publishing side," Loeb continued. "There's also the fun of sometimes your heroes team up with the villain to go after something that's even worse, so there's a lot of story left in Grant Ward, including the ongoing question, which is: Who is Grant Ward?"
