Fans have eagerly awaited casting decisions to be announced for True Detective's second season, and according HBO executives that news could go public as early as next week.

'True Detective' Emmy Nominations Are In

HBO CEO Richard Plepler and president Michael Lombardo talked a little True Detective at the Television Critics Association summer press tour Thursday. While they refused to give away too many details, they did suggest that casting for season two is complete and will be revealed in the near future.

As for the show's plot, Plepler and Lombardo wouldn't say much beyond what fans already know about it. The series will take place in California. There will be at least one male lead. Nonetheless, Lombardo told The Hollywood Reporter that they've seen some of the scripts for the new season and they are looking great.

"The two scripts we have are-I hate to jinx it-but they are more exciting than the first season," said the HBO president.

True Detective received twelve Emmy nods when nominations were announced yesterday, including a nod for Cary Jo Fukunaga in Outstanding Directing For A Drama Series and creator Nic Pizzolatto for Outstanding Writing In A Drama Series. The series received two nominations under Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series for Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.

The series was also nominated for Outstanding Drama Series and is credited with providing HBO with twelve of the network's total 99 nominations.

True Detective returns to HBO for a second season in early 2015.
