'Insidious 3' News: 'Fast and Furious 7' Director 'Turned Down' Insidious Chapter 3 But Might Direct The Fourth One? [VIDEO]
In an interview dated July 14, Jason Blum, the producer of Insidious 3, spoke about trying to get James Wan, the director of Insidious Chapter 1 and 2, back for the third in the horror franchise.
Speaking to Movies With Butter, the producer revealed that Wan, who just finished directing Fast and Furious 7, turned them down when they approached him to work on Insidious 3.
"I wanted James to direct and he said no," he said. "After James said no, Leigh [Whannell] was definitely our first choice. We wanted James to direct Insidious 3. He turned us down. He will be directing horror again soon."

Whannell wrote the first two chapters of the series and will now be helming the third, both writing and directing it.
Even though Insidious 3 has only just begun filming, rumors about Insidious 4 have already starting doing the rounds. It was being suggested that Wan will be coming back for the fourth instalment but Blum revealed that that was not the case.
When Blum suggestd that Wan would be directing horror soon, he did not mean Insidious 4.
"No, he's not doing Insidious 4, but something," Blum said.
Dermot Mulroney and Stefanie Scott will be starring in Insidious 3.
Entertainment One, FilmDistrict, and Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions will be developing the third chapter of the micro-budgeted franchise. Blum (Blumhouse Productions) will be co-producing the third film with Oren Peli (Paranormal Activity). Steven Schneider, Brian Kavanaugh Jones, Peter Schlessel, Lia Buman and Xavier Marchand will come on board as executive producers.
Insidious 3 will release in April 2015.
