Phoebe Tonkin, star of The CW's The Originals, has decided to use her social media presence to benefit a number of charity organizations.

'The Originals' Scores Harlequin Book Deal

With over 536,000 followers on Twitter, the Australian actress, who plays werewolf-turned-hybrid Hayley on the series, certainly has an audience. Earlier this month, she reposted an article on Twitter from the Cambodian Children's Trust detailing their preschool for impoverished children in Cambodia.

Shortly after Tonkin reposted a tweet from a fan account which read "@1PhoebeJTonkin birthday is coming," they wrote, "so I propose you all make a donation to @CCTcambodia [Cambodian Children's Trust] to celebrate it!"

The Originals Cast Confirmed For Comic Con 2014

Tonkin continued to voice her support earlier this week when she reposted a tweet from CCT requesting volunteers who are "passionate about ending poverty."

Tonkin got her start in 2011 when she moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. She soon landed roles on The CW's The Secret Circle and The Vampire Diaries before nabbing the female lead on The Originals.

When asked about her fame in an interview a few months ago (featured below), the actress appeared incredibly humble.

"Golly...I feel very lucky to be where I am right now," she said earnestly, "It's been a really good couple of years".

While Tonkin considers herself very fortunate, her CW character isn't doing so great. With her child taken away and enemies at every turn, Hayley and Klaus (Joseph Morgan) will have to fight to protect their child.

The Originals returns to The CW for a second season Monday October 6 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
