The Blacklist's Tom Keen and Liz Keen are probably never, ever getting back together, but season 2 will reveal Tom's ultimate fate.

Who Was Liz's Keen's Mom On 'The Blacklist'? Megan Boone's Character Starts To Question Her Family's Past

Liz (Megan Boone) and Tom (Ryan Eggold) were clearly not meant to life a life of domestic bliss, but Liz didn't serve her lying husband with divorce papers. Instead, she sent a bullet to end his life (see video below).

However, Berlin's little henchman may have survived their scuffle despite appearing to bleed out on the floor. When the FBI went to inspect the scene, Tom Keen's body was nowhere to be found.

"[Tom's fate] will be confirmed during the season," said series creator Jon Bokenkamp, according to TV Line. "Though I don't exactly know when."

If Tom does make a reappearance, perhaps he can elaborate on the bomb shell he dropped with his (allegedly) final breaths. Is Liz's father really still alive, or was Tom just trying to send his killer wife on a wild goose chase?

Fans will have to wait until end of September to find out for sure. While there will be a tiny time jump between the season 1 finale and the season 2 premiere, according to TV Guide, Liz will still spend the season digging into her past while helping Red (James Spader) track down the deadly Berlin.

The Blacklist will return to NBC on Sept. 22 at 10 p.m. ET.
