Actor Jason Biggs might have cost himself some fans with just one tweet on Thursday when he made an insensitive joke shortly after Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 crashed in Ukraine with almost 300 people on board.

Bigg managed to stir up controversy after reports were made that the Boeing 777, which was on its way from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, was shot down by a missile fired from a Buk antiaircraft system near the Ukranian and Russian border.

The actor tweeted, "Anyone wanna buy my Malaysian Airlines frequent flier miles?" along with, "It's saddest for the victims and their families, obviously. But Malaysia Airlines is apparently a GREAT airline. Gonna be tough to recover."

He also added, "In all seriousness, tho- HOW DO YOU MISTAKENLY SHOOT DOWN A COMMERCIAL PLANE?! Ugh."

Biggs' twitter followers almost immediately began criticizing the actor for his remarks, with the actor quickly defending himself and calling his tweets "jokes."

The actor responded to his followers by writing, "The idea that I wouldn't have any empathy 4 the victims or their families because I made a joke is absolutely ridiculous. U know that, right? Truly - you losers are literally trying to find s--- to get angry about. Channel your issues elsewhere."

Biggs later issued an apology for his Twitter rant by saying, "Hey all - ok, so - I am deleting my previous tweets. People were offended, and that was not my intent. Sorry to those of you that were. This is obviously a horrible tragedy, and everyone - including myself - is sad and angry about it. Sending positive thoughts to the victims and their families."

Among the 295 people on board who died in the crash, 189 were Dutch nationals, along with 44 from Malaysia, 27 Australians, 12 Indonesians, and many more. So far, there are no reports of any American citizens on board the flight.
