'The Originals' Season 2 News: Freshman Drama Fails To Nab More Teen Choice Award Nods During 2nd Round Of Nominations [VIDEO]
The second round of the 2014 Teen Choice Award nominations were announced on Friday, and The CW's The Originals was noticeably absent amongst the contenders.
Change Is Coming During Season 2 Of 'The Originals'
The supernatural drama received no nominations this week, while The Vampire Diaries, on which The Originals is based, received three for acting.
During the first round of nominations, The Originals earned two nods. Joseph Morgan was nominated for Choice TV Actor (Sci-Fi/Fantasy) for his turn as Klaus Mickelson and Claire Holt, who decided to leave the show mid-season, was nominated for Choice TV Actress (Sci-Fi/Fantasy) for her portrayal of Klaus' sister Rebekah.
'The Originals' Scores Book Deal With Harlequin
The Vampire Diaries scored nominations during round one, including Choice TV Show (Fantasy/Sci-Fi) and a number of acting nods, meaning that Morgan and Holt will be up against former co-stars from their early days on the network.
Even without awards, The Originals has been making a lot of noise lately. Earlier this week The CW series nabbed a book deal with Harlequin and later this month the cast will appear at Comic Con in San Diego.
While only two of their performers will be up for honors at this year's Teen Choice Awards, the program's track-record for awards this year is pretty solid. Morgan took home the People's Choice Award For Favorite Actor in a New TV Series for the same role.
The Teen Choice Award voting ends August 9, with the ceremony airing on Fox August 10. The Originals returns to The CW for a second season Monday, October 6 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
