A new red-band clip from the upcoming comedy, Let's Be Cops, starring Jake Johnson, Damon Wayans Jr., and Nina Dobrev has been released.

'New Girl' Rip Off? Writers Claim Creator Stole Ideas For Fox Comedy From 'Square One' Script

The film follows two struggling pals (Johnson and Wayans) who dress as police officers for a costume party and become neighborhood sensations. But when these newly-minted "heroes" get tangled in a real life web of mobsters and dirty detectives, they must put their fake badges on the line.

The clips highlights the two accepting their role as cops with Johnson's character Ryan buying a cop car. It also shows the clear chemistry between the two leads as they comment on how illegal this probably is. So far the trailers have stuck to highlighting the absurdity of the plot and the complete immaturity of the two leads.

While the film contains some relatively unknown faces, both Johnson and Wayans have shown to have genuinely funny moments together on New Girl. Wayans also generated laughs on the short-lived ABC sitcom Happy Endings.

This is probably the first of many bigger films that people will see Johnson in as he appeared in Safety Not Guaranteed and Drinking Buddies in the past few years and will also been seen in next year's blockbuster Jurassic World.

Let's Be Cops is directed by Luke Greenfield from a script by Greenfield and Nicholas Thomas. The film also stars Angela Kerecz, Andy Garcia, James D'Arcy, Rob Riggle, and Keegan-Michael Key. The movie is released in theaters on August 13.
