'Fargo' Season 2 Premiere: FX Will Bring Back Miniseries With New Characters & Story [VIDEO]
When FX announced a miniseries inspired by the Coen Brothers' movie Fargo, there were murmurs of concern.
Then, the show was a critical darling and a ratings success, getting several Emmy nominations along the way. This naturally led to questions about whether or not there would be another season of Fargo, or a similar project. Well, as HitFix reported on Monday, there will indeed be another season of Fargo.
However, don't expect to see any of the characters from the first season of Fargo (the ones that are still alive, at least) in season two. FX has stated that the show will follow the model of their other miniseries, American Horror Story, and start anew. There will be new characters, a new story, and even a new time period. That being said, Noah Hawley, who wrote all 10 episodes of the first season, will be back in charge for season two.
On the other hand, unlike, American Horror Story, they will not be recasting actors from season one in new roles. It is going to be a brand new story under the same umbrella of Fargo. As such, folks looking to see Billy Bob Thornton or Martin Freeman again may be disappointed, but given how well the first season went, fans shouldn't be concerned. It will be next fall before the new season of Fargo, so that gives fans plenty of time to speculate about when and where this new story will take place. Until then, there is the matter of waiting to see if Fargo gets any wins out of its 18 Emmy Nominations.
