Katy Perry and Russell Brand Divorce is Official on Paper
Katy Perry and Russell Brand are now officially divorced on paper on Monday (July 16). The two were married for 14 months before Brand filed for divorce citing "irreconcilable differences" last December. The process took many months to complete and now they are officially single.
The pop star was devastated by the marriage and believed that it her marriage would last, however British comedian Brand had enough.
Katy Perry opened up about the split in her 3D film "Katy Perry: Part of Me." The movie shows a tearful Perry who had to smile in front of thousands of her fans in the midst of the painful divorce.
She admitted, "I'm a romantic and I believe in the whole fairy tale. Love is a dream but the reality is making it work. I did everything I could - but it's still failed."
Perry said that she still believes in love after this break up.
Brand, who has mostly been silent about the split said to Ellen DeGeneres in May, "I still love her as a human being...But, sometimes when you're in a relationship I suppose it doesn't work out, does it? But that doesn't mean I regret it or anything. I was very happy to be married with her. She's such a beautiful human being and I just have only love and positivity for her."
