'Power Rangers' Movie News: Producer Roberto Orci Says 'Mighty Morphin' Series Will Have 'Continuity' & Nostalgia [VIDEO]
Roberto Orci is once again digging into nostalgia. After working on Star Trek, The Amazing Spider-Man, and Transformers, the producer is moving on to Power Rangers, where he will help reboot the franchise as a producer and writer. But according to Orci, it may not be as full-fledge reboot as initially expected.

IGN caught up with Orci and asked him what he was planning to do with the Power Rangers movie and Orci said that he hoped to keep ties with the original series as much as possible.
"One of the first things we did was learn and read. They have 600 pages of research that they have on their stuff. We read through the synopsis of everything they did and we are actually taking into account quite a bit of the canon in a real way," Orci said.
"We're not just a leave it behind reboot. [Haim] Saban cares very much about that. This is something that he created. I had to go to his house, personally, to tell him, 'Listen, I'm your man. [Ashley] Miller and [Zack] Stenz, these are your guys. I promise you I won't ruin your franchise.'"
Orci understands that part of the draw with Power Rangers is the nostalgia and he hopes that the tone they are going for will satisfy longtime fans.
"Part of it is seeing what we remember of it; our generation and what our memories of it are. Part of it is seeing the fans of it today. There are a lot of kids that love it today, and so it's about doing your homework," Orci said.
"We have the added benefit of a movie is going to be two hours, or whatever it is, so it's gotta have an arc and a reality to it that maybe you don't have a chance to do all the time."
Some of the nostalgia may seep in as Orci teases that the original series may make it's way into the movie.
"It's got a continuity within the world. I can't tell you what, but it does have a continuity," Orci said.
As for a director, Orci said he hopes to have one soon, but he and X-Men: First Class writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz are still hard at work on the screenplay. He also added that there is always room for a cameo or two.
