'Boardwalk Empire' Season 5 News: Patricia Arquette Absent From Latest HBO Teaser, Return For Final Episodes Of Prohibition Drama Still Uncertain [VIDEO]
While the latest HBO teaser for Boardwalk Empire's fifth season confirms the return of a number of actors, noticeably absent is Patricia Arquette's Sally Wheet.
Actor Dishes On Future For Willie Thompson On 'Boardwalk Empire'
Sally became Nucky Thompson's (Steve Buscemi) Florida business partner and love interest during Season 4. She was known for taking care of herself and infamously punching Nucky in the face as a form of "foreplay."
While Arquette was billed as only a guest star and not a regular cast member during her time on the series, the actress has expressed an interest in returning to the show. In an October 2013 interview with Vulture, Arquette claimed she was up for anything. "I'm okay with whatever," she explained, "I don't even care if I die, as long as I get a cool death. I want a cool death. I would like it be surprised."
HBO Releases Dark New 'Boardwalk Empire' Teaser
Considering no popular actor has ever left the series without their character meeting an untimely end, Arquette just might get her wish. At the same time, Arquette explained that Sally isn't a character to put up with Nucky's withdrawn and temperamental ways, and so she would leave him all together sooner than she'd die for him.
With the series ending this season though it seems no one, not even Nucky, is safe. In real life Nucky Johnson, on whom the character is based, died of natural causes, but series creator Terence Winter has noted on multiple occasions that the name was changed specifically so the show could stretch out and away from complete historical accuracy.
Boardwalk Empire returns to HBO for a fifth and final season Sunday, September 7 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
