'Hot Tub Time Machine 2' Movie News: Red-Band Trailer Takes The Gang To The Future, Minus John Cusack [VIDEO]
While a successful movie in today's Hollywood usually warrants a sequel, seeing one for Hot Tub Time Machine was something not many expected.
'A.C.O.D' Adam Scott TRAILER Has Amy Poehler as His Stepmother, With Jane Lynch & Jessica Alba
With the full cast returning, minus John Cusack, the film was to take the plot of the first one but move it into the future. Replacing Cusack was Parks and Recreation's Adam Scott.
The story involves Craig Robinson, Clark Duke and Rob Corddry's characters who take the friends a decade into future where they meet the son of John Cusack's character, played by Scott. The trailer shows how the three friends used their knowledge of the future to change their lives, which may have had fatal consequences. Gillian Jacobs (Community) plays the female lead. Chevy Chase also reprises his mysterious role from the first film.

The trailer shows that a similar brand of humor is present in this one, much like the last one. Corddry's vulgar nature coupled with Robinson's quick lines and Duke's snarky remarks made for great comedy in the last movie, not to mention the addition of Scott, who has always had funny moments in his television ventures but still hasn't found that hit on film outside of a supporting role in Step Brothers.
Time will tell if Robinson, Duke, Corddry, and Scott can lead a movie on their own, but the lack of a bonafide name like Cusack could potentially come back to bite them. Not to mention the fact that the first film has more of a cult following and not too many people bought into it when it was released.
Hot Tub Time Machine 2 hits theaters on Christmas Day.
