Following in the footsteps of the 50th Anniversary Special, Capaldi's first full episode will bring exclusive content to select theaters while the majority of the fandom watches from their couches.
Steven Moffat Claims Peter Capaldi Should Not Be Twelfth Regeneration On 'Doctor Who'
"Last November the Doctor didn't just conquer the world on television, he did it in the cinemas too," Moffat said, according Screen Crush. "And like the show-off he is, he can't resist another go - one taste of the silver screen is never enough. On August 23 the new Doctor will begin his new adventures on BBC One and in cinemas all over the world. Movie-land beware - Capaldi is coming to get you!"
A list of participating theaters and countries has yet to be released.
Grab your popcorn and catch the Doctor's return to the TARDIS on Aug. 23 on the BBC and BBC America or in select theaters.
